Does Emergency Room Code Red work on Mac OS X?

This game may or may not work on Mac OS X, but we do not support it.

I can't find Emergency Room Code Red in Add/Remove Programs.

There was no entry created for the program in Add/Remove Programs. If you want to install the program, use the Install file from the CD. If you want to uninstall the program, use either the Uninstall file from the CD, the Start Menu, or the location where you installed the program.

I launched the uninstaller but canceled the process before the uninstall began, but now I can't find the desktop shortcut or the program folder from the Start Menu. Did I uninstall the game?

The game is still installed on your computer, only the desktop shortcut and program folder from the Start Menu were removed. To start the game, go to the folder where you installed the game and click on 'CodeRed.exe'.

When playing in easy mode and the x-ray comes up, I can't select any other tools or tool trays.

You must use the x-ray on the appropriate body part before you can select another tool. If you are not sure what body part to apply the x-ray to, use the Hints button on the PDA.

On the Mac, sometimes a white screen appears where the QT movies usually play or sometimes the background of the clipboard disappears.

Increasing the system's virtual memory by about 10 MB usually fixes this problem.

On the Mac, the performance is slow after playing for 30-40 minutes.

Performance can be improved if the user saves the game, quits, restarts the computer, and starts the game again.

How do I exit Emergency Room Code Red?

To exit Emergency Room Code Red, press the Escape key on the keyboard to return to the Main menu. At the Main Menu, click on the Quit button to exit.

The main menu button on the PDA is not working.

You can also access the main menu by using the ESC key.

I get a script error when I start the game.

For Minimum and Typical installs, you need to have the CD in the drive for the game to start correctly.

XP Compatibility

The program was not tested and we do not support the program in Windows XP.

Some users have been able to get the program to run by switching the program to use compatibility mode. Right-click on the Shortcut for the program, select Properties, then select the Compatibility tab. Select the OS you wish to run the program under (Windows 95, Windows 98) and click Apply. Note that we cannot guarantee the functionality of operability of the program in Windows XP, and we can provide no other support for the program in that OS.

To set Compatibility mode:

Right-click on the shortcut for the program on the desktop.

Choose Properties from the dropdown menu.

Click the Compatibility tab.

Check the box for "Run this program in Compatibility mode".

Select Windows 98/ME compatibility mode.

Click Apply, then OK.

You may also wish to download Service Pack 1 for Windows XP. To download Windows XP Service Pack 1, Click Start, then Windows Update. This will take you to Microsoft's Windows Update website. From here, Service Pack 1 for Windows Update can be downloaded and installed using the instructions on the screen.
